Sony fans are unwilling to accept that Starfield isn’t coming to PlayStation 5

Microsoft has made it clear that Bethesda’s next RPG, Starfield, will be releasing exclusively on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, but that hasn’t stopped Sony fans from dreaming that the game will be a “timed exclusive” for Microsoft platforms, like Rise of the Tomb Raider was back in 2014.

Bethesda, Xbox, and Microsoft have all confirmed that Bethesda’s future games would be exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC, but despite this, Sony fans are grasping at straws, suggesting that the Starfield will come to PlayStation 5 at some point.

Discussions about this topic have become so widespread that Aaron Greenberg, the GM of Xbox Games Marketing, has made it clear on Twitter that Starfield is “not a timed exclusive”. Starfield is coming to Xbox and PC, that’s it.

Greenberg’s statement is clear; Starfield isn’t coming to PlayStation 5. Those who do not want to buy an Xbox will have the option to play Starfield on PC or through the cloud.

The irony of this situation is that Sony receives complaints whenever they release their first-party PlayStation titles on PC. Bethesda is now a first-party studio for Xbox, which means that their future games will be made for Xbox. Sony fans complaining about Starfield’s Xbox exclusivity is like complaining about Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet and Clank being unavailable on Xbox.

Starfield is due to be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 11th 2022.
