Sony’s “Play At Home” Initiative is giving away free games to PS4 owners

Sony has officially revealed its “Play At Home” initiative, which plans to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by giving gamers a good excuse to stay at home. The excuse? Free Games. 

Starting tomorrow, April 15th, Sony will be giving away free copies of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey to all PS4 owners, this offer will be available until May 6th. Two regions, Germany and China, will instead receive copies of Knack 2 and Journey during this promotional period. 

As part of this initiative, Sony will also be creating a fund which will help smaller independent game studios, who may be experiencing financial issues as a result of the pandemic. This fund will help developers to continue to create great experiences until the world returns to normality. 

In the US and Europe, Sony has lowered the download speeds of its games to reduce the strain the PlayStation Network places onto internet service providers. This effort will help keep the internet accessible to everyone, preventing potential internet blackouts in some regions.
