STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition is coming to PC
The original STALKER trilogy has been remastered for PC, and it’s launching next week
GSC Game World has revealed STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition, which will be released on May 20th for PC. This new version of the original STALKER trilogy will be available on PC through GOG, the Epic Games Store, and Steam. Existing owners of the original three STALKER games will receive each game’s Enhanced Edition versions for free.
These new versions of the original STALKER games will feature enhanced visuals, improved controls, and full gamepad/controller support. Visual improvements include updated skyboxes, enhancements to GodRays and the overall lighting system, and refined surface reflections. Additionally, 3D models have been improved for NPCs and weapons. Additionally, textures have been upscaled and upgraded to enhance the game’s level of detail. One critical upgrade to the game is the addition of global illumination, changing the look of the game’s lighting.
Is your PC ready for STALKER’s enhanced edition versions?
The good news for PC gamers is that this remastered STALKER trilogy will not be hard to run on modern PCs. At 1080p maximum settings, GSC Game World recommends AMD’s RX 580 and Nvidia’s GTX 1060 for 60 FPS gameplay. Those GPUs are low-end by today’s standards. For 4K 60 FPS gameplay, GSC Game World recommends AMD’s RX 6800 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti
Note that GSC Game World has made changes to STALKER’s UI and HUD to increase usability. Furthermore, while core audio assets remain the same at the original trilogy, improvements have been made to deliver a better audio experience.
If gamer’s don’t want to play these enhanced versions of STALKER, each game’s original version will remain available. This is good news for fans of classic STALKER mods and fan-created content.
