Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to last-generation consoles

EA has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 17th. With this new version, EA has stated that they have utilised a “variety of optimisations” that are aimed at “maximising the hardware capabilities of these consoles”.

Currently, it is unknown how well this new version of Respawn’s Star Wars hit will run on last-generation consoles. It is likely that the game will run at 30 FPS. That said, it is unknown what resolutions last-generation consoles will target. Beyond that, it is unknown what visual sacrifices needed to be made to bring the game to last-gen systems.

If there are indeed new optimisations for Survivor, it will be interesting to see if any of these changes could benefit the game’s existing PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 versions. After all, these changes could make the game run faster on these systems, or at higher resolutions.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still a mess on PC

On Steam, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has “Mixed” reviews. Many PC gamers report poor performance, crashing, and other issues. While the game itself is solid, its PC version runs poorly. Thankfully, EA has confirmed that the game’s PC version will receive an update in the “coming weeks”. This update will bring “enhancements to the game’s technical performance”, improve the game’s controls, and more.
