Star Wars: Battlefront II's Multiplayer has been restored with Steam/GOG crossplay

Star Wars: Battlefront II was originally released in 2005, maintaining an active multiplayer community until 2014, when the closure of GameSpy disabled the game's official multiplayer support.  This was a huge hit for the multiplayer community for this game, though now Disney has stepped in an updated this classic to support multiplayer on both Steam and GOG, with crossplay enabled.

This is the second time that Disney has re-enabled multiplayer support in an old Star Wars PC game, with Disney bringing back Star Wars: Empire at War's multiplayer last month.

Without GameSpy, Battlefront II players were able to use multiplayer "unofficially" through services like GameRanger, though this program did require an annoying setup process. Now Disney has brought back multiplayer support inside the game itself, eliminating the need to tinker with external applications.

With this update, the game's multiplayer mode has been updated to support up to 64 total players, including all five multiplayer modes from the original like Conquest, Assult, one or two capture the flag modes and Hunt.

Right now Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) is available on GOG with a 60% price reduction, making the game £3.19
