Steam/PC dominates as Helldivers 2 sells over 20 million copies

PC gamers account for the vast majority of Helldivers 2’s playerbase

According to Alinea Analytics, Helldivers 2 has sold over 20 million copies across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam/PC. Helldivers 2 launched in February 2024 on PC and PlayStation 5, and in July 2025 on Xbox, and has remained a strong seller across all platforms.

PC is Helldivers 2’s dominant platform with 13.1 million sales. Combined, Xbox and PlayStation account for 7.2 million sales, with PlayStation accounting for 5.6 million sales. PC overshadows both console platforms with more than 80% more sales than Xbox and PlayStation combined. Clearly, Sony made the right decision by bringing Helldivers to both PC and PlayStation 5 at launch.

Given PC’s strong embrace of Helldivers 2, it is clear why Nixxes has recently invested significant effort in the game’s PC version. In collaboration with Arrowhead Game Studios, Nixxes managed to slash Helldivers 2’s PC install size by 85%. This reduced the game’s install size by over 100GB.

Helldivers 2’s success shows exactly why Sony has embraced PC in recent years. This is especially true for Sony’s multiplayer titles, which have recently arrived on PC alongside their PlayStation counterparts. Large multiplayer games thrive with large audiences, and PC has a strong multiplayer community.
