Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s next season will be its last

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will soon be abandoned – The “Final Post-Launch Season” is coming

WB Games has confirmed that Suicide Squad is reaching the end of its content roadmap. Next month’s “Episode 8” update will be its last. This update will be released on January 14th and will be the game’s last “seasonal/episodic content” update.

Thankfully, today’s update for Suicide Squad will add an “offline mode” to the game. This mode will allow gamers to experience all of the game’s main story campaign and seasonal story mission content. While WB Games says that the game’s servers will remain online, this is a clear sign that Warner Brothers is preparing to lower its costs and shut down the game’s servers. If/when these servers shut down, the game’s online co-op mode will no longer be available.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is widely considered a failure. At launch on PC, the game achieved a maximum player count of 13,459 (on Steam) and failed to hold players’ interest. This is terrible news for a game intended to be an online multiplayer title with paid cosmetic content. Suicide Squad needed a strong playerbase to survive. As such, it makes sense that the game is being abandoned.

While it is sad to see this Rocksteady abandon their game, the move is unsurprising. The game’s seasonal updates are not bringing new players into the game, and work on further updates is a wasted effort. Sadly, it’s unknown what WB Games’ plans are for Rocksteady now. Will they start work on a new Batman Arkham series game or start work on a different game? Hopefully, WB Games will keep the studio alive and start work on a proper Arkham series game.
