Target confirms that Bethesda: Game of Thrones is not a real product

Yesterday, retail a retail listing for a game called Bethesda: Game of Thrones was found at the US retailer Target, prompting a lot of rumours regarding this unannounced title.

Now the retailer has responded to these rumours, confirming that the listing is not for a “real product”, confirming that Bethesda: Game of Thrones does not exist. Below is Target’s full comment to Forbes.

This is not a real product – we’re sorry for any confusion.

This is a real shame, given how well the Song of Ice and Fire Universe could be adapted into an Elder Scrolls style RPG, or into a Dishonored type stealth assassination game was a sone of the series’ “faceless men”. Game of Thrones has had some game adaptation in the past, though none of them has been hugely popular, especially those that pre-date the TV series.

It seems like Game of Thrones fans will need to wait for Season 8 to get their next fix, or whenever George R.R Martin is able to release his next book in the series.
