The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest are getting offline mode updates

Ubisoft’s working on offline modes for its newer The Crew games following fan backlash

In 2024, Ubisoft made gamers furious by taking its racing game “The Crew” offline. Despite the game’s inclusion of single-player content, it was an online-only title. Ubisoft effectively destroyed that product by taking its servers offline. This has prompted a lawsuit over the game’s closure, which Ubisoft is currently fighting. Now, Ubisoft has decided to bring offline mode updates to its newer The Crew titles.

As part of a new video update, Ubisoft has confirmed that The Crew 2 will receive an offline mode later this year. Tests for this offline mode will begin next week, with Ubisoft inviting fans to participate in a “test” version of the game’s offline mode.

Ubisoft has not given a timeline for The Crew Motorfest’s offline mode update. However, Ubisoft is still committed to this game as a live service and says that it will be supported “for years to come.” Ubisoft says that the game will receive an offline mode later.

The good news for gamers is that The Crew 2 and Motorfest will not be erased from existence by the inevitable shutdown of their servers. Honestly, this is what they should have done with the first game. Clearly, Ubisoft now sees they were wrong to erase their first The Crew game. Perhaps this is their way of avoiding future lawsuits.
