The Elder Scrolls Skyblivion recieves a fresh development update as its release year approaches

The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion is releasing in 2025 – Here’s how close the mod is to completion

Skyblivion is inching closer to its 2025 release date. This mod, a fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion within Skyrim’s game engine, has been in the works since 2016. Today, the mod’s development team has given us an update on the mod’s progress. The mod is on track for its 2025 launch. However, a lot of work still needs to be done to reach this milestone.

Below, we have the Slyblivion team’s latest development update, which details the progress the team has made towards completing their highly anticipated mod. The game’s world map is almost finished, with only the game’s Nibenay region being incomplete. 93% of the game’s landscape cells are complete, and 44% of the worldspace is nav-meshed. This secondary process allows NPCs and quests to function as intended in these regions, making their completion a vital milestone ahead of Skyblivion’s release. Currently, almost 94% of the Oblivion’s 3D objects are rebuilt for Skyblivion. Note that all of Oblivion’s assets need to be recreated to make this mod legal.

Skyblivion looks incredible

Based on the video update below, Skyblivions looks incredible. Although the game is a mod for Skyrim, the mod’s visuals surpass Skyrim in many regards. Additionally, it looks like a more modern take on Oblivion, not a mod for Skyrim. All in all, the Skyblivion team has done an excellent job recreating this Bethesda classic.

Since 2016 we’ve been chipping away at a seemingly impossible feat: Remake Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine. Today, we’re less than a year away from achieving that goal.

Watch along with us as we take you behind the scenes to share the exact progress we’ve made on Skyblivion and what we have left to finalize before our 2025 release. With the Elder Scrolls communities support we’ll be able to finish the final steps in completing our dream of remaking Oblivion for a new generation to enjoy.

Together, we’ll once again close shut the jaws of Oblivion in 2025.

Today, the Skywind team has worked on the vast majority of Oblivion’s quests. Six quests remain untouched, meaning that most of Oblivion’s near-200 quests have been worked on or are completed.

To complete Skyblivion’s final development push, the Skywind team has once again asked for support. If you feel that you can contribute to the project, you should visit the team’s website and volunteer here.
