The First Templar – Special Edition is now available for free on PC

For the next three days, GOG are giving away free copies of the PC version of The First Templar – Special Edition, as part of their Summer Sale. To redeem a copy of this 2011 game, all players will need is a free GOG account. Like all games on GOG, this game is available DRM-free on PC. Additionally, the game supports all modern versions of Windows.

The First Templar is a third-person action adventure title that can be played as a single-player experience or as a co-op title. Players will get to play as one of who main characters, Celian d’Arestide, a French Templar, and his companion, Marie d’Ibelin, a noble lady who has been proclaimed a heretic. These unlikely allies work together to uncover the mysteries of the Templar Order, and the secret of the Holy Grail.

In single-player mode, players can play as both characters and switch between the two at will. The other character is AI controlled. In co-op, players will control one of the two characters, with the second player controlling the previously AI controlled hero.

PC gamers can redeem their free copy of The First Templar – Special Edition through GOG. At this time, it is unknown if GOG plans to offer any more free games during their summer sale. Unlike the GOG version, the game’s “Steam Special Edition” of this game features the unique “The Arena” bonus mission. The GOG version of this game appears to lack this content.
