The Sims 4 Remastered reportedly in the works

EA’s reportedly reworking The Sims 4 with an upgraded engine, open neighbourhoods and more

EA is reportedly working on a new “Remastered” version of The Sims 4, aiming to overhaul the game’s engine and provide a stronger baseline for long-term game support. The Sims 4 is now a decade old, and the game has become increasingly hard to work on as more and more content comes to the game. Bug squashing has become a challenge, as players can have completely different Sims 4 experiences based on the DLC packs they own. This makes bug-fixing a nightmare for developers, and increasingly difficult as more DLC packs launch.

EA’s rumoured Remaster will reportedly upgrade the game’s engine. This will deliver graphical improvements to the game, giving gamers more tools and more detail. Furthermore, the DLC will reportedly feature “open neighbourhoods”. Effectively, this new version will deliver many of the features that gamers wanted from The Sims 5.

Basically, it sounds like EA wants a more stable platform to build the future of The Sims franchise upon, not an entirely new game. Think of this as The Sims 4.5 rather than as The Sims 5. The game will reportedly feature elements from Sims 4 DLC packs, such as Seasons and Growing Together, as part of its baseline experience. However, it is unknown if this new version will support all of The Sims 4’s content. Will all Sims 4 DLC work with this new version? I guess we will find out more in time.
