The Witcher 4 Tech Demo runs at 60 FPS on PS5 with ray tracing

CD Projekt Red demos The Witcher 4 at Epic Games’ State of Unreal 2025 event

At Epic Games’ State of Unreal 2025 event, CD Projekt Red has showcased the Witcher 4 running on Unreal Engine 5. This tech demo showcases many of the technologies that will be used in The Witcher 4, and showcases what the game should look like on Sony’s PS5 console.

CD Projekt Red released cinematic and gameplay tech demos, showcasing what The Witcher 4 currently looks like. The gameplay demo ran at 60 FPS on Sony’s standard PlayStation 5 console, with ray tracing enabled. This is a clear sign that the game should look great and run well on both PC and consoles.

These demos showcase clear visual upgrades over The Witcher 3. Then again, that should be expected given The Witcher 3’s age. Animations are more refined, the world is more detailed, and villages are filled with NPCs.

With their new tech demo, CD Projekt Red had made it clear that The Witcher 4 will deliver a true generational leap over its predecessor, both in terms of visual quality and scale. Note that this is just a tech demo, so things are subject to change. However, this demo proves that The Witcher 4 can run at 60 FPS on PS5. We expect that FPS target to stick.
