The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is coming to PC

Bethesda has revealed that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is releasing on PC, finally bringing the game to VR ecosystems outside of PSVR (PlayStation VR). The title will release on April 3rd with support for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets, making the game playable on every major VR platform.

Sadly, like Fallout 4 VR before it, Skyrim’s expedition into VR will cost £39.99 regardless of whether or not you already own the game or its Special Edition on Steam, something which will likely annoy many longtime fans of the series. A discount would have been appreciated here for existing Skyrim owners, though we can see why Bethesda hasn’t done this given the niche nature of VR gaming.

This PC release of Skyrim VR is expected to offer some graphical improvements over the game’s console counterpart, given the relative CPU and GPU power provided by VR-ready gaming PCs as well as the higher display resolution that all major VR headsets currently offer on PC. This version will undoubtedly be the definitive VR release of Skyrim.

A true, full-length open-world game for VR has arrived from award-winning developers, Bethesda Game Studios. Skyrim VR reimagines the complete epic fantasy masterpiece with an unparalleled sense of scale, depth, and immersion. From battling ancient dragons to exploring rugged mountains and more, Skyrim VR brings to life a complete open world for you to experience any way you choose. Skyrim VR includes the critically-acclaimed core game and official add-ons – Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.

It will be interesting to see whether or not modders will adopt Skyrim VR as readily as its predecessors on PC, as at this time it is unknown whether or not Bethesda plans to support modding on the game’s official VR release officially.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR will come with all of the original game’s expansion content, including the game’s Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn DLCs.
