The Wii U's CEMU Emulator for PC now supports multi-threaded processors

Emulation remains a controversial subject, especially when it comes to recently released consoles and games, though it is undeniable that emulation is key when it comes to preserving the history gaming.

As hardware leaves retail shelves it will become increasingly rare, with more older devices either breaking or getting thrown out over time, making it difficult for newcomers to catch up on classic titles. Even Nintendo themselves are utilising Emulation to preserve their older games, either through their "Virtual console" systems or using dedicated emulation hardware like in their NES and SNES classic consoles.

The Wii U's CEMU emulator has now passed a massive milestone on PC, with version 1.11.3 now supporting multi-threaded CPU emulation, moving the software past its single-threaded origins. The Wii U used a Three-core IBM PowerPC "Espresso" CPU, which means that an ideal emulator on PC would also support up to three CPU cores on PC.

CEMU version 1.11.3 can now be run using the emulator's traditional single-threaded mode as well as dual and triple core modes, allowing users to chose which version runs best with the player's selected game.

CPU/JIT: Added support for multi-threaded CPU emulation with recompiler Dual-core mode will allocate one thread for the main PPC core (1) and one thread for core 0 and 2 Triple-core mode allocates one thread for each PPC core
