Activision has confirmed that the Windows 10 store version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered will not work with the Steam version, segregating both player bases online.

This means that purchasers of both games on the Windows 10 Store will not be able to play with PC gamers that use the Steam version, which is a strange design choice for a game series which is primarily played for the Multiplayer.

Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on another PC platform?

No, you can only play these titles with other users of Windows 10 on Windows Store.

This design choice will split the game's multiplayer communities on PC and will undoubtedly lead to issues for PC gamers, especially given the Windows 10 Store's lack of popularity amongst PC gamers. It is likely that players from the Windows 10 Store will have difficulty finding online matches before long due to the Windows 10 store's lack of widespread adoption by gamers, effectively killing the game's online community before it has a chance to develop.

Right now it is unknown why the multiplayer communities for both versions of the game are split on PC, or if Activision has any plans to unify them in the future.

I keep wondering why they actively put effort into making the game worse. They could've just not done this, would've been less work and would've made for a better game. Same goes for restricting the framerate and FoV. I'd understand laziness, but this is beyond me. Who pays these people to be counterproductive.Quote
