Custom games were limited by how many players you could gather, making it difficult for most players to set up large matches, though this is about to change tomorrow with Halo 5: Forge's upcoming "Monitor's Bounty" update.

The "Monitor's Bounty" update for Halo 5 will come to PC and Xbox One tomorrow, offering PC gamers a massive upgrade to Halo 5: Forge, giving the game a free custom games browser on PC, allowing users to join in-progress games, effectively bringing Halo 5's multiplayer to PC.

While this update will not bring matchmaking to the PC version of Halo 5: Forge, it does the next best thing by allowing gamers to join existing matches, finally allowing a dedicated Halo 5 PC community to flourish.

Above and below are some screenshots which showcase the game's custom game browser, as well as options to search for a custom game that meets your personal requirements.

We know getting a full fireteam together to run customs isn’t always easy, and while Looking For Group is great for appointment gaming, sometimes you just want to jump in and discover something new. The new Custom Games Browser enables you to search for in-progress games from the main menu. Games you can join are based on their privacy settings when they are created in the lobby.

We’ve also updated the Content Browser so that if you find a map or mode that you like, you’ll be able to browse for in-progress custom games from that file’s options.

This Custom Games Browser is something the team has wanted to add for a long time for the community, but we needed the Content Browser and the search engine that powers it up and running first. Thanks for being patient, and we hope you enjoy it whether you’re running Duck Hunt 24/7, or just looking for new friends to slay!

Excellent. I'll definitely be giving this a go tomorrow night; I've been a long time fan of Halo since playing co-op in the original with mates (damn, I was 11!).

I used to enjoy playing Halo online too but like hell am I paying for Xbox LIVE Gold for my Xbox One when I do the vast majority of my gaming on a PC these days.Quote

Because 5 bucks a month is hard? Side note - if you and a friend share gold you dont have to pay for gold...they would let you bum off there gold (can only be done with one friend and yes completely legal and does not void TOS of xbox; xbox / ms made this a thing).

For reference and point of fact - I share gold with my brother who is in another state here in the US and he hasn't had gold for about 8 months and still is able to play online and do everything as if he had gold since he is bumming of my gold; we split the cost and he gave me 30 bucks since I bough gold).Quote

It's not really about the cost, it's about what I use. I can afford to have Xbox LIVE, Netflix, LoveFilm, etc all at once if I wanted but when my life is so busy and my media habits mean that I can literally go months without using them why shouldn't I save myself £20 a month and put it in savings for my next round of hardware; something I actually use on a day-to-day basis?

Although that sharing thing is interesting. Thanks for teaching me something I didn't know.Quote
