Total War: Warhammer 2 Trench Craventail Free-LC planned

A whole new way to play as Skaven!

Total War: Warhammer 2 Trench Craventail Free-LC planned

One of the key elements of Total War: Warhammer's success has been the release of both paid and free DLC content at regular intervals, be it the release of new units, magical lores, factions or Legendary Lords. On most occasions every paid DLC is accompanied by a free component, ensuring that all players get something new to play with, Warhammer II's Rise of the Tomb Kings paid DLC is no different.

Alongside the release of the game's Rise of the Tomb Kings DLC, the Skaven race will receive a new playable faction, Clan Rictus. This clan offers players a new way to play as Skaven, with a new Legendary Lord called Tretch Craventail and a large number of unique buffs and abilities.

Unlike other Skaven Clans, Rictus consider Frozen lands as suitable climates and finds Jungles unpleasant to live in, allowing the Skaven to more easily infest previously unsuitable areas of the campaign map. The Rictus clan also offers increased attack stats in ambush battles and after retreats, alongside increased public order after breaking a diplomatic treaty, Clan Rictus are backstabbers to the core.

Clan Rictus Traits

- Suitable Climate: Frozen
- Unpleasant climate: Jungle
- Public Order +4 whenever a diplomatic treaty is broken
- Melee attack: +12 during ambushes (Tretch's army)
- Melle attack: +12 after retreating when attacked (Tretch's army)

Lord Effects:

- Attribute: Vanguard Deployment (All units in army)

At this time Creative Assembly has not officially confirmed the existence of this DLC with a trailer or a listing on Steam, though it has been showcased within the game's Rise of the Tomb King's preview build, as shown by Eurogamer. IN their gameplay video the new faction was confirmed to be free DLC content, which will be available to all players of Warhammer II.

I don't really like Skaven. So I'm a little disappointed. Was hoping for some Lizardmen content. But Skaven is one of the most popular factions in the lore so I understand most people will be happyQuote

The Skaven is personally one of my favourite new factions due to how differently the play, refreshing to play swarm tactics every once in a while.

I think a lot of people will be disappointed that this leader is from a lesser Skaven clan, but this is free DLC after all. The Free-LC roadmap points to an Elves DLC lord next and then a Lizardmen lord. Lots of people were expecting clan Skyre or Clan Moulder for the Skaven.

A Skaven clan with an affinity for Frozen terrain will also allow for some more action in the tundrous regions of the map, which is good for campaign variety.Quote

Yeah, I can see why you might not like that. I love it, but I can see why others find it annoying.

TBH the factions that I don't like playing as are Chaos/Beastmen (wandering armies), the Orcs and the Vampire Counts. Don't like the Orcish fightiness system and I just don't like playing as Vampires, not quite sure why.Quote
