United Front Games, the guys behind titles like Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, has today released details for Triad Wars, the long awaited follow-up to Sleeping Dogs.

According to the video embedded below, Triad Wars is a "living, breathing" "open-world action strategy" game set in Hong Kong, coming exclusively to PC. Rather than focus on a single protagonist, like Sleeping Dogs' Wei Shen, this game will more closely resemble that of a traditional MMO, with players responsible for establishing their own turf, finding a niche in the underworld, and hopefully fighting to take other gangs' territory.

"Set in the vibrant city of Hong Kong & Sleeping Dogs universe, Triad Wars is an online open-world action adventure PC game where you rise to power as a criminal kingpin of the Triad underworld. Experience the unrivaled combination of fighting, shooting & driving or succeed through strategy via extortion, hacking & money laundering – It’s your city to claim & how you do it is entirely up to you."

According to one developers in the video below, the world will evolve into a completely different game over the course of two years. The gameplay will vary depending on how you choose to play: for example, players are free to choose which area of criminality they would like to specialise in, with smuggling and counterfeiting two options mentioned. Meanwhile, the combat in Sleeping Dogs will apparently feature in Triad Wars, which is great given how good the combat was in that game.

Triad Wars is expected to release in early 2015, though closed beta registrations are available right now

Kind of surprising it's a PC exclusive, we don't get that many AAA exclusives any more. Also in that screenshot I see a Rolls Royce and what looks like some Lambo. So I'm guessing there's genuine branded cards in it too.

Don't know about the whole MMO like thing though...Quote
