What you need to know about Until Dawn’s PC version

Until Dawn has been remade for PC and PlayStation 5, and this new version of this survival horror classic is launching on October 4th. On PC, the game will be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The PC version will support PC staple features like an unlocked framerate, Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, ultra-wide support, and ray tracing.

Like most modern PC games, Until Dawn’s remake was made with SSD storage in mind. PC gamers will need 70GB of SSD storage to play this game. For 60 FPS gameplay, an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, Intel i5-8600, or better CPU is recommended, as is 16GB of RAM.

While the game requires a minimum of an Nvidia GTX 1660 or AMD RX 470, these components are recommended for 720p 30 FPS. That’s a very low resolution and framerate for desktop PC users, which is why we recommend that PC gamers ignore these requirements and look at the game’s recommended and above hardware requirements. However, these low requirements suggest that this game may run well on Valve’s Steam Deck, or other PC handhelds at 30 FPS.

To play this game at 1080p 60 FPS, the game recommends an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 to a Radeon RX 6600 XT. For 1440p 60 FPS, an RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is recommended. For 4K 60 FPS, Sony recommends Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. Note that the game lists higher CPU requirements for 4K gameplay. This makes no sense, as resolution increases do not have a huge impact on the CPU loads of most games.

Ultra (4K at 60fps)
