Valve confirms Half-Life: Alyx’s release date
Now, Valve has officially confirmed that Half-life Alyx will release on March 23rd, reconfirming that the game would be available for free to all Valve Index VR headsets. To users of other headsets, the game would be available for £46.49 on Steam, with pre-orders coming at a discounted price of £41.84.Â
Half-Life: Alyx is a VR-only prequel to Half-Life 2, with the game supporting all major VR headset types. Oculus’ Rift series, HTC’s Vive series, Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality series and Valve’s Index headset will be supported on day-1. The game is also said to be playable in seated, standing and room-scale VR setups.Â
Half-Life: Alyx can only be played on VR headsets, as the game is designed around VR’s motion controls, and as such, the game cannot be played with gamepads on a normal PC screen.Â
 Â
So far, Valve has only released Half-Life: Alyx’s minimum PC system requirements. Recommended system requirements are due to be released in the near future.Â
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 1060 / RX 580 – 6GB VRAM
