Valve updates Steam's Customer Review system
When reading the customer reviews for games we can very often get a skewed look at the product, be it from the internet hype mongers or haters to gamers who have received free game codes from developers giving the game a positive review.
Valve has been working to improve their customer review section on Steam and has now implemented changes that will help gamers to get a clearer view of exactly what a game is like. Now gamers will be able to filter by purchase type, allowing Steam users to filter out reviews of copies that were purchased outside of Steam or given away by developers as well as filter by language and positivity.
While these changes seem small these are part of wider changes that Valve are planning, which include combating unhelpful "joke" reviews for games as well as the ability to present games with highly divergent public opinions more clearly.
Hopefully, these moves will make Steam a much more user-friendly Storefront, as right now the Steam review system is practically unusable for certain titles.
