War Gaming releases showcases World of Tanks' upcoming enCore graphical enhancements

War Gaming has been working hard to prepare World of Tanks for its colossal 1.0 update, which will move the game to a new graphics engine called "Core" and launch with a reworked collection of over 25 maps which will bring the game to "modern graphical standards".

Those with lower end systems should know that this new engine has been designed to scale well to low-end PCs, though at this time the exact PC system requirements for this new version are unknown.

World of Tanks version 1.0 is set to release in March 2018, but today War Gaming has released a new enCore tech demo and a new trailer which showcases the visual upgrades that are available with this new engine. This visual update will include more complex geometry, increased texture resolution and complexity, more realistic illumination, wetness effects and water deformation.

War Gaming's enCore tech demo is available to download here and will allow Wolrd of Tanks fans to get a glimpse of the new graphical effects that will be on offer as well as a look at how well their PCs will perform when using the new engine. This demo will only give approximate performance levels for the game's final version, as the new engine will continue to be optimised and improved until its eventual release in March.

Even with this upgrade, World of Tanks will remain easy to run on moderately powerful PCs. Even my ageing GTX 670MX (Mobile GPU) being able to achieve a "Gold Standard" score of over 9000 points when playing the game at 1080p Medium settings.

Those who are interested in running World of Tanks' enCore performance/tech demo can download it here

While we've known this since March of this year it's nice to finally know when it's coming.

It will be interesting to see how the meta changes. Right now it seems like all the current strategies for the maps they showed go out the window.Quote

Well installed the test on my in-laws computer with a 1500x and a gt1030, and got a score of 4000 on 1080p ultra settings = silver score.
But the replay lagged like , so it was definitely not playable. So don't put to much into the scores.Quote

It looks lovely but i can't play it. Last time i had installed tanks it had that stupid bug when it just overheats my system to the point it shuts down. Nothing i have tried helped. So i just gave up.Quote

Game is pretty bug free honestly. So that's surprising. It's pretty easy to run too and I would think a 1030 wouldn't have a problem in an actual battle.Quote

1080p medium = no problem. But the ultra replay was really really bad.
But yes, it's not a AAA title it's made to run on more or less anything.
Haven't played it that much the past year. But have 12k battles or so, been playing it since 2012.Quote
