Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine III is in development

Saber Interactive has started work on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine III

Games Workshop and Saber Interactive have confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine III is now in development. With this new release, gamers can look forward to an “immersive campaign and multiplayer mode” and “innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games.”

Saber Interactive has stated that they will “support and grow” Space Marine 2 “over the coming years.” This suggests that Space Marine 3 will not be released anytime soon. With the promise of “even bigger and more spectacular game,” Warhammer 40K fans should expect a lot from Space Marine 3.

Space Marine 2 has proven to be a transformative game for Saber.  It is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business.  We are now starting to develop Space Marine 3, a game that carries with it tremendous expectations from our rapidly expanding fanbase.  While we will continue to support and grow the Space Marine 2 universe over the coming years, we will take all our learnings and apply them to an even bigger and more spectacular game for the third installment.  We view this as an opportunity to create a true love letter to the Warhammer 40.000 universe.

Given the success of Space Marine 2 on PC and consoles, it is not surprising that the game is getting a sequel. Games Workshop has confirmed that “Space Marine 3 is likely years from release.” Thankfully, Saber Interactive’s journey with Space Marine II is far from over.

Personally, I am glad that we are getting another Space Marine game. Space Marine II is a title that captures the essence of classic 3rd person action games. Furthermore, it captures everything great about the 40K setting. It’s a fun game that knows what it is and is unashamed. The broader games industry has a lot to learn from Space Marine II.
