Dawn of War – Definitive Edition rewards series veterans with a 30% discount

Relic Entertainment has announced that Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition will be coming to PC on August 14th. The game will be available on PC through Steam and GOG for $29.99. Owners of the game’s Anniversary Edition on these platforms will be able to grab the game’s Definitive Edition with a 30% discount.

This new version of Dawn of War features upgraded lighting, enhanced textures, and other visual improvements. This remaster has been made with 4K screens in mind. Furthermore, the game has been upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, enabling enhanced modding potential for the game’s fanbase.

To further please modders, DOW Definitive Edition also features a Mod Manager, which is compatible with over 20 years of Community Mods. The game has also been updated with an improved gameplay camera system, increased draw distances, and an optimised layout for modern widescreen displays.

No new DLC for Dawn of War

Relic has confirmed that it has no plan to create new content or post-launch DLC for Dawn of War: Definitive Edition. When asked about a potential Dawn of War 2 PC version, Relic simply stated that “we can only talk about games we have announced.” So, a DOW 2 Definitive Edition hasn’t been announced yet? I see what you did there Relic! If that isn’t a tease, I don’t know what is.

Q: Will you be adding any new content or post-launch DLC?
A: No. Our focus is on delivering the ultimate Dawn of War experience when we launch the Definitive Edition later this year – that means everything players know and love from the original game, all in one package. We’ll keep an eye out for any critical issues or bugs that need to be addressed after launch, but our primary goal is to optimise Dawn of War for modern hardware.

Q: Does this mean that we’ll also get a new version of Dawn of War 2 or any other Relic Entertainment games?
A: We can only talk about games that we have announced. Right now, we’re focused on supporting the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition and our other released and upcoming Relic games.

Dawn of War: Definitive Edition PC system requirements

Despite the game’s enhancements, Dawn of War – Definitive Edition’s PC system requirements remain low. The game only requires 25GB of storage, and a modern CPU with at least four cores. GPU-wise, the game needs a GPU equivalent to or better than AMD’s R9 370 and Nvidia’s GTX 950. Note that these PC system requirements are preliminary. Further optimisation may lower these hardware requirements further.

Q: Is the minimum recommended specification on the Steam Store page accurate?
A: This is a conservative preliminary minimum specification. Further optimization during development will bring this down before launch.

Minimum System Requirements:

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5 6th-gen or AMD Ryzen desktop processor with 4 cores @3GHz, or equivalent performance
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950, AMD Radeon R9 370, or equivalent performance
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Storage: 25 GB available space
