Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has been delayed until 2024
Sorry folks, you won’t be playing Space Marine 2 this year
If you are a Warhammer fan, one of your most highly anticipated games of 2023 was almost certainly Space Marine 2. The original is a classic, a third-person shooter that masterfully showcased the power of the Emperor’s warriors with a mix of melee and ranged combat. It’s sequel pits players against the Tyranids, a devouring swarm of ever evolving creatures. Today, Focus Entertainment confirmed that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II has been delayed.
Space Marine 2 was due to release sometime in 2023, and now it is clear that the game will not meet this release target. Now, the game is due to launch in the second half of 2024. This delay will give Saber Interactive more time to polish the sci-fi action game, and ensure that players have the best possible experience at launch.
Below is what Focus Entertainment had to say about the delay.
Focus Entertainment will reveal the official launch date of the highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – the iconic Games Workshop licence – in early December. The game is now poised to ship in the second half of 2024, to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience. Focus Entertainment is committed to releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has already accumulated over a million wish lists to date.
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is releasing on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The game will feature a 3-player co-op campaign at launch, thought the game will also be playable in singleplayer mode. On PC, Space Marine II will feature support for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 technology. This means that the game will support Frame Generation on all modern graphics cards.
The trailer below also drops a lot of interesting information about Space Marine 2’s setting and storyline. The trailer confirms that the Tyrannids are invading the worlds of Avarax and Kudaku. These two planets should add a lot of level variety to Space Marine 2. This will be a refreshing change from the rather samey look of most of Space Marine 1’s levels. For eagle-eyed watchers of the trailer below, there are hints that Space Marine 2 will feature space-based combat, the Deathwatch Space Marine chapter, and some form of Chaos incursion.
The new release date for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II will be released sometime next month.
