Windows 10 Game mode shows up in insider build 15007

Windows 10’s upcoming “game mode” has shown up in insider build 15007, allowing games to be given resource priority to improve game performance.

This new mode is expected to minimise Windows 10’s resource usage when running a game, allowing games to run faster and smoother than on older version of Windows 10. This feature is expected to arrive in Window 10’s Creators update, which is expected to arrive in Spring 2017.

In build 15007, Game Mode can be accessed in the Windows 10 Game DVR panel, which can be accessed by hitting the Windows button and G. Here you can enter Windows 10’s game settings and manually enable game mode, as can be seen in the image below.

Another addition to Windows 10’s DVR mode will also be a built-in streaming option, which will stream your games to Beam, Microsoft’s recently acquired streaming service. This service is currently disabled, though it is clear that this feature is coming.

From the looks of it Windows 10’s “game mode” will be available on all games on Windows 10, though at this time we do not know how much of a performance impact the new option will have.
