Xbox announce June Showcase alongside The Outer Worlds 2 Direct
Expect to see “what’s next for Xbox” this June
Microsoft has just announced that its next “Xbox Games Showcase” will be on Sunday, June 8th. At this event, Microsoft will explore upcoming first-party Xbox titles and highlight games from its third-party partners. Additionally, after this showcase, “The Outer Worlds 2 Direct” will be held, giving gamers a glimpse into Obsidian Entertainment’s next RPG.
This year’s event will be digital only and will be streamed in 40 languages. It will be streamable on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. In the UK, this event will start at 6 pm BST. This translates to 10 am PDT and 1 am EDT for US viewers.
At this event, we expect to learn what The Outer Worlds 2‘s release date will be. Currently, the game has a 2025 release timeframe. The Outer Worlds 2 will be launching on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Note that this isn’t the first time that Microsoft’s highlight game showcase will be for a game that’s also launching on PlayStation 5. Remember that last year’s “Direct” was for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Make some space on your calendar – the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time. Following in the footsteps of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, this year we will again have a double feature, with the Xbox Games Showcase immediately followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.
It all begins with our annual Xbox Games Showcase, bringing you a look at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe. This year, the show will be digital-only – our livestream will bring you everything you’ll need to know about what’s next for Xbox, no matter where in the world you’re watching.
Immediately following Showcase, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.

Over the coming weeks, we expect to hear about more E3-style games showcase events from major game publishers. Typically, EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, and Square Enix all host gaming-focused events in the early summer. Furthermore, Summer Games Fest will air on June 5th. E3 may be dead, but its legacy lives on.
