AMD Software 26.8.1 adds support for its worst GPU, and more

AMD Software 26.8.1 is ready for this month’s biggest PC game releases

AMD has officially released AMD Software 26.8.1, the company’s newest GPU driver for Windows users. This driver adds support for AMD’s Radeon RX 9050 4GB, AMD’s worst RDNA 4 graphics card. It also supports some major game releases. This includes Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Star Wars: Zero Company. Additionally, it is also ready for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s beta.

With 4GB of VRAM, AMD’s RX 9050 is not suitable for most modern games. While it is good enough for most older titles, its reduced VRAM capacity and bandwidth make it a much worse product than the RX 9050 8GB. While many argue that 8GB of VRAM isn’t enough for some modern games (at least at their highest settings), 4GB definitely isn’t enough for most modern games. That said, the 4GB model appears to be exclusive to OEM PCs. Don’t expect this GPU to be available as a standalone product.
