Corsair launches their MP600 PRO LPX SSD, promising users strong performance and a smaller heatsink
Corsair has just revealed a new SSD, one that's PlayStation 5 compatible out of the box while offering users the same performance levels as their existing MP600 PRO XT model with sequential read speeds as high as 7,100 MB/s.
The main change that Corsair newest SSD offers when compared to its predecessors is its support for PlayStation 5, with Corsair confirming that their new drive "exceeds all PS5 M.2 performance requirements for a quick and easy upgrade." This compatibility comes thanks to Corsair's new LPX heatsink design, which is much slimmer than Corsair's older SSD models.
With the MP600 PRO LPX, Corsair has addressed a big problem with their other MP600 series SSDs, and that problem is how challenging its heatsink is to remove (There's a reason why Corsair had to create a heatsink removal guide). Wit their new LPX heatsink, Corsair has moved away from heatsink clips and towards a screw-based retention mechanism, making Corsair's latest heatsink a lot easier to remove. This is good news for those who simply do not want to use their motherboard's built-in M.2 heatsinks or install an aftermarket M.2 heatsink.
With performance levels that promise to be similar to their MP600 PRO XT drive, there is little else that needs to be said about the MP600 PRO LPX, as aside from the fact that it has a new heatsink design, nothing else has changed. This new SSD will be available in 1TB and 2TB models.
Currently, Corsair's MP600 PRO LPX appears to be available to purchase from Corsair's UK website.
