Crucial Updates their BX500 Series of SSDs with an Affordable 2TB Offering
Crucial has confirmed that they plan to expand their BX500 range with a new high-capacity entry, bumping the series' flagship model from 1TB to 2TB, while offering a price tag of $214.99/£208.79 on Crucial's website.
The BX500 series initially launched in August 2018, with the 480GB model costing $89.99, showcasing how far SSD pricing has dropped since then. Now, a 1TB drive is available for $114.99/£111.59, and a 480GB model is available for $55.99/£50.39. PC builders get a lot more value for their money in 2019.
Now, Crucial offer buyers capacities of 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities, with the BX500 series acting as entry-level SSDs. The BX500 sits below their higher capacity/performance MX500 series offerings. Each model in the Crucial BX500 series will offer 540MB/s and 500MB/s sequential read/write speeds respectively.
We know that these new SSDs will utilise Micron's 96-layer 3D TLC NAND alongside an SMI SM2258XT DRAM-less controller. The full range of BX500 SSDs will fit into the standard 2.5-inch form factor with 7mm of unit thickness, making this model suitable for full-sized PC and most notebooks. All of these drives ship with a 3-year limited warranty.
