Intel release their DC P4501 series of NVMe M.2/U.2 SSDs

Intel release their DC P4501 series of NVMe M.2/U.2 SSDs

 
Intel has announced their new DC P4501 series of enterprise SSD, coming in both 32Gb/s M.2 and U.2 (7mm thick 2.5-inch) variants, making this one of the only U.2 SSD models in existence. 
 
These SSDs will b made using Intel 3D NAND and come in capacities of 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB and offer sequential read/write speeds of 3,200MB/s and 900MB/s respectively. The drive will also offer 4K random performance of 360,000 IOPs, with 46,000 IOPS random write. 

Both the M.2 and U.2 drives will come with a 5-year warranty and is rated at 1 DWPD (Data Write Per Day) (random) and up to 3 DWPD (mostly sequential). This drive also contains imminent data loss protection which uses a capacitor to deliver enough power to finish an outstanding write in the event of a power loss.

Intel has not released the pricing or availability information on this drive, or when consumers can expect a consumer-oriented version, which will likely lack certain datacenter oriented features.
