Kingston Fury Renegade G1 SSD leaks – Crazy-fast PCIe 5.0

Kingston’s Fury Renegade G5 SSD has leaked, and it’s FAST!

The PCIe 5.0 SSD market is getting exciting. Not only are more manufacturers entering the market, but they are doing so with a multitude of new SSD controllers. Now, Kingston (via Videocardz) is entering the PCIe 5.0 SSD market with their Fury Renegade G5 SSD, boasting sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s.

What’s interesting about this new SSD is that it doesn’t use the same technology as other PCIe 5.0 SSDs. It doesn’t use a Phison-based SSD controller. Kingston has instead opted to use Silicon Motion’s SM2508 SSD controller. When Silicon Motion revealed this controller, they said that it was 70% more power efficient than competing SSD controllers. This efficiency results in less heat production and cooler-running SSDs.

Kingston’s new Fury Renegade G5 SSD will be available with 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. All three models use the industry standard M.2 2280 form factor and use 3D TLC NAND.

Kingston Fury Renegade G5 SSD Specifications

With sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s, Kingston’s new G5 SSDs are approaching the performance limits of the PCIe 5.0 interface. SSDs cannot get much faster than this without requiring more PCIe lanes, or faster PCIe 6.0 lanes. All models within this range can deliver over 2 million read/write IOPS.

Below are the specifications of Kingston’s upcoming G5 series SSDs.
