Kingston powers up their mainstream SSD lineup with new NV3 models
Kingston gives its mainstream SSD lineup a major boost with their new NV3 series
Kingston’s NV2 has been an incredibly popular choice for budget SSD users, but now Kingston has something better for the budget SSD segment. Meet the Kingston NV3 series, which uses 3D NAND and a new PCIe 4.0 controller to deliver read speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s.
Kingston’s old NV2 SSDs operated at speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s, making their new NV3 series drives significantly faster. Additionally, this new series of drives will be available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB SKUs. That said, the 4TB model isn’t due to launch until Q4 of this year.
Currently, Kingston lists the 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB models of their NV3 with UK prices of £45, £67.38, and £132 respectively. Like the NV2, the price of these new SSDs is expected to vary a lot over time. This will be especially true during major sales events (Prime Day, Black Friday, etc).
One thing to note about the new NV3 series is that only its 2/4TB versions will operate at the series’ maximum speeds. The 1TB model will feature slower write speeds than its higher cappacity counterparts. Furthermore, the 500GB model will feature slower read and write performance. Even so, the 500GB model remains faster than Kingston’s older NV2 series drives.
We expect this new SSD to be incredibly popular amongst budget PC builders and system integrators. While these are not the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs available, they do aim to deliver strong pricing and ample performance for users. All models of this SSD will be available with a 3-year limited warranty.
