Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe M.2 SSD

PRESS RELEASE

Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe M.2 SSD

Kingston HyperX Predator PCIe M.2 SSD

Today Kingston have announced their HyperX Predator PCIe SSD, an M.2 SSD with an optional half length adaptor which will deliver speeds of up to 1400MB/s read and 1000MB/s write, which to put things in perspective is over 2x the theoretical maximum of SATA 3.0.

This SSD looks fantastic with it's black PCB and an exposed set of copper traces on the PCIe adapter. This SSD will not be an ugly Green PCB in your system like some of the other M.2 SSDs on the market. Lets hope this SSD will be the pocket powerhouse that is promised.

Press Release

HyperX®, a division of Kingston® Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the HyperX Predator PCIe SSD. Shipping in February, HyperX Predator PCIe SSD will be the highest-end SSD with the fastest speeds in the HyperX lineup.

HyperX Predator PCIe SSD offers large capacities (240GB, 480GB) and incredible speeds to take systems to the edge. A 960GB version will ship in later Q1/Q2. Faster than SATA-based SSDs, the generation 2.0 x4 interface delivers speeds up to 1400MB/s read and 1000MB/s write for ultra-responsive multitasking and an overall faster system. It is powered by the Marvell 88SS9293 controller. The M.2 form factor ensures next-generation platform support with an M.2 PCIe slot. An optional half-height, half-length (HHHL) adapter is also available for many existing motherboards without an M.2 socket. The HHHL adapter comes with both standard and low-profile brackets to fit in slim profile desktop builds.

“As enthusiast desktop users and datacenter customers seek greater performance to break through 6Gb/s SATA limitation, Marvell’s X4-lane PCIe SSD Controller 88SS9293 provides lightning fast, next-generation SSD performance,” said Mike Chen, director of product marketing, Storage BU, Marvell. “We are proud to work with the HyperX team to deliver higher bandwidth and throughput for client systems and datacenter customers seeking to maximize storage performance.”

“HyperX is happy to soon unleash its fastest HyperX SSD to date. The PCIe form factor showcases extreme speeds while processing both compressed and uncompressed data,” said Lawrence Yang, business manager, HyperX. “We worked closely with Marvell to engineer this HyperX Predator PCIe SSD for higher performance and it more than delivers through its ultra-responsive multi-tasking and faster system performance.”

HyperX is the high-performance product division of Kingston Technology encompassing high-speed DDR3 memory, SSDs, USB Flash drives, and headsets. Targeted at gamers, overclockers and enthusiasts, HyperX is known throughout the world for quality, performance and innovation. HyperX is committed to eSports as it sponsors over 20 teams globally and is the main sponsor of Intel Extreme Masters. HyperX can be found at many shows including Brasil Game Show, China Joy, DreamHack, gamescom and PAX.

Just what I have been waiting for, if the price is right. But do not like the white sticker on the face side, and it looks like it might be upside down when placed on a lot of boards?Quote

does it matter? You won't see it... only way you can see it is if you use a PCIe extension to face it flat and in view. 99% of the time it'll be in a traditional setup. Now if you are talking about the M.2 it'll show.. just take it off?Quote

I, like alot, will have it board mounted, so visible. Also "warranty void if removed" is a big reason not to remove.
Just commenting that if they spend the time to print it onto black PCB for aesthetics, seems a bit silly not to take off/ think of position of the stickers.Quote

Now I have to collect some money. This will be one of the upgrades on my new system. It will perfectly fit in my new rig. It matches in colour to the black and yellow/orange themed Gigabyte X99-UD7 board....Quote

I wish Asus would come out with an M.2 adapter like this, I'm a sucker for Asus' minimalistic designs like on their PB monitors, A nice shroud to make it look neat tidy would be cool Quote
