Satechi launches its DotDisk 80 Gbps Thunderbolt 5/USB4 v2 SSD enclosure
Ultra-fast and ultra-portable – Satechi launches its 80 Gbps DotDisk NVMe SSD enclosure
Need ultra-fast SSD storage in a portable form factor? Satechi has just released its new 80 Gbps DotDisk NVMe SSD enclosure, delivering next-generation external SSD connectivity. This SSD enclosure is designed for 80 Gbps USB4 V2 and Thunderbolt 5 systems but is backwards-compatible with prior standards.
This compact aluminium SSD enclosure supports up to 8TB 2280 M.2 NVMe SSDs. The enclosure’s aluminium shell acts as a heatsink, helping users get the most out of connected SSDs. This enclosure also features an integrated micro fan for enhanced cooling. Note that this is an SSD enclosure and does not ship with an integrated SSD. This means that SSD performance will be defined by how fast your chosen SSD is.
Satechi claims this enclosure supports Windows 11, Linux, and macOS. The enclosure supports Thunderbolt 4 and USB4, as well as the newer Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 V2 standards. Note that Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 connections will be limited to 40 Gbps speeds.
The Satechi DotDisk 80 Gbps SSD enclosure is available for $199.99 in both Space Black and Silver. With its 80 Gbps connection speeds, users can achieve SSD speeds similar to internally integrated SSD solutions. Not bad for a portable storage drive. This allows users to edit directly from this external SSD, or quickly move data between modern systems.
