Leaked Preview Guide reveals Crucial's PCIe 5.0 T700 SSD specifications

Over the weekend, some YouTubers have released new preview videos for Crucial's T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD, a Phison PS5026-E26 SSD M.2 SSD that was shown to deliver sequential read speeds higher than 12 GB/s.

Now a document has been leaked online that appears to be a "Previewers Guide" for those who were lucky enough to get access to early samples of Phison's T700 SSDs. This document showcases the specifications of Crucial's T700 SSD, and reveals that the drive's 1TB model will be slower than the drive's 2TB and 4TB version.

It is not uncommon for lower capacity models of SSDs to deliver lower performance levels, as less NAND can mean less parallelism and that can limit overall performance. In terms of sequential read speeds, the T700's 1TB model is said to be 500 MB/s slower than its 2TB counterpart, and in terms of sequential read speeds the drive's sequential write speeds are 2,500 MB/s slower. When buying an SSD, you should always look up the specifications of the capacity that you are buying, as SSD performance can often vary with capacity, even for drives within the same product range.

Through Linus Tech Tips, Crucial has revealed their upcoming T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD, a M.2 storage solution that offers users sequential read speeds in excess of 12GB/s and write speeds of over 11.8 GB/s.

Crucial teases their T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD - 12+ GB/s Performance

Based on the Crystal Disk Mark benchmark results above, Crucial's planned T700 SSD is roughly two times faster than their PCIe 4.0 based P5 Plus SSD, delivering a huge generational leap in SSD performance for Crucial. Sadly. The pricing and availability of Crucial's new T700 SSD remains unknown, though it is likely that Crucial will make an official announcement for this SSD soon.

I'm curious if you plug this into a gen 4 slot would it perform to the absolute limit of what gen 4 can off or fall short.Quote
