Super Talent Intros PCIe RAIDDrive SSD Workstations, New SSD Line-up

 

Super Talent Technology today introduced two new products – its PCIe RAIDDrive SSD Workstation and a new line of IDE SSDs. Both products expand the manufacturer’s already strong presence in the SSD market.

 

Super Talent gave the SSD market a huge step forward when it introduced the first 512GB SSD. The company then took the lead in SSD speeds when it came out with a RAIDDrive SSD with a PCI-Express interface. With its new PCIe RAID Drive Workstation, Super Talent has now upped the ante in storage capacity; the workstation will allow users to connect up to three 2TB RAIDDrive SSDs for a staggering storage capacity of 6TB.

 

Combining Intel’s Core i7 processors with Super Talent’s own 1333MHz DDR3 DIMMs, the system comes in a Workstation Tower form factor. Super Talent will be giving customers the option of custom designing their systems as per their requirements.

 

In benchmarking tests using Crystal Disk Mark v2.2, the Workstation gave sustained sequential read speeds of more than 1.5GB/s, with sequential write speeds touching 1.35GB/s. On HDBench, the random read and write speeds were found to be 725MB/s and 515MB/s respectively.

 

Alongside the new WorkStation, Super Talent also launched a new line of SSDs with an IDE connector. This is a surprising move away from the now standard SATA connectors. The MasterDrive EX2 and IX2 series SSDs are targeted at customers who still have a need for IDE drives.

 

Ranging in capacities from 16GB to 128GB, the EX2 series SSDs feature sequential read and write speeds of up to 80MB/s and 40MB/s respectively. The IX2 series on the other hand comes in capacities of 16GB to 64GB, with maximum sequential read and write speeds of 80MB/s and 60MB/s respectively.

 

The EX2 series SSDs are designed around an MLC flash controller and carry a 2-year factory warranty, while the IX2 series drives have a SLC controller and come with a 3-year factor warranty.

 

Talking about the new SSDs, Jeremy Werner, Senior Product Manager for Super Talent said, “Many embedded and ruggedized portable PC customers still need IDE drives, and the MasterDrive EX2 and IX2 series give them the performance they deserve in a rugged and reliable device.”
