AMD have 3 new Semi-Custom SoC design wins
At their Q1 2016 earnings call, AMD has stated that they have had 3 new Semi-Custom SoC design wins, with two of them likely to be in the PlayStation Neo, Nintendo NX, and a third unknown product.
While AMD did not state what these 3 new SOCs were for, they did state that one of these SOCs will be "ramping" in the second half of 2016 and that all of these SOCs will launch by 2017.
Right now AMD's most popular Semi-Custom SOCs are used in Sony's PlayStation 4 and in Microsoft's Xbox One, hinting that these new SOCs will be APUs that are designed for use with future consoles.
Right now Sony is expected to launch their PlayStation Neo around October 2016, with Nintendo being expected to reveal their upcoming NX console at E3. When asked about what these upcoming SOCs were used in AMD's CEO stated that she would "prefer to let that [information] come out as our customers are ready to launch.
Right now it is unknown what the third AMD made SoC will be used for, whether it will be for a new console, perhaps a new iteration of the Xbox One, a new low power design for a gaming handheld or perhaps something that will be used outside of the gaming market.
