Antec launches their Core HS gaming handheld, and it has a keyboard!
Antec’s Ryzen 7 7840U-powered Core HS gaming handheld is now available
Antec have officially launched their new Core HS handheld, a new Windows 11 gaming handheld that features a 6-inch 1080p screen and a Ryzen 7 7840U processor.
This new handheld is now available to purchase, arriving in Black and White forms. Beyond the handheld’s two colour options are two RAM and storage configuration options. First, there is the standard model with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Next there is the higher-end model with 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. These two Antec Core HS models are now available to order for £499 and £599 respectively.
Both models feature the same AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor. This CPU features eight Zen 4 CPU cores and an RDNA 3 integrated graphics chip with 12 Compute Units. This processor is similar to the Ryzen Z-series CPU that’s available in ASUS’ ROG Ally and Lenovo’s Legion Go handhelds.
Unlike its competitors, Antec’s new gaming handheld features an integrated keyboard. This is an incredibly handy feature, especially for games that have renaming features. This is also handy for anyone who needs to use their Windows handheld for normal PC applications. Overall, this addition makes the Antec Core HS a more versatile device than its competitors.
With a CPU that has a 28W TDP and a 46.2 WH battery, it is likely that this new gaming handheld will have a short battery life. Antec have confirmed that this device supports full-length M.2 2280 SSDs, features WIFI 6E support, and uses LPDDR5X-7500 memory.
At launch, Antec’s £599 32GB models for this handheld will be available with a bundle that includes the following items.
- Core HS System (Black or White)
- Core HS Carry Case
- Tempered Glass Screen Protector
- Performance Thunksticks
- A Multi-Docking station
- Free Shipping
Unfortunately, Antec has not listed the refresh rate of their Core HS’ screen. We do know that it is a 6-inch 1080p IPS screen. We also know that it has 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage and 85% DCI-P3 coverage.
