Apple is expected to release a low-cost MacBook Air later this year
An Apple analyst called Ming-Chi Kuo has released a report which has encouraged investors to look out for three new products in 2018, a new 6.1-inch iPhone, a new high-end AirPod design and a more affordable MacBook Air. This new MacBook Air is expected to finally move away from Intel’s Broadwell CPU architecture, while also delivering a reduced price tag. Today’s MacBook air costs £949-1,099.
This new MacBook will likely move the Air series to USB Type-C charging, while also offering a Thunderbolt 3.0 upgrade, allowing it to fit better into Apple’s modern ecosystem. A higher resolution 1080p screen would be nice to see in this compact MacBook, as 1440×900 is a fairly low resolution for the premium Apple brand.
Apple’s new AirPod device is expected to service the high-end headphone market, competing in the over-ear headphone market with several key design choices which will be useful for users of Apple’s other products.
Apple’s new MacBook Air is expected to release in Q2 of this year, targeting Students and others who would desire a low-cost MacBook. It is about time that Apple provided a proper upgrade for their Air series of products, which have not seen a major hardware upgrade since 2015.
