ASUS’ new ROG NUC 2025 is a Compact Gaming Powerhouse
ASUS’ 2025 ROG NUC delivers some BIG upgrades
ASUS has built something special for those who don’t have the space for a full-sized gaming PC. At CES 2025, we got our first look at ASUS’ ROG NUC 2025. This is ASUS’ second-generation ROG NUC design (see our Gen 1 ROG NUC review here), and it is clear that ASUS has learned a lot from this unit’s predecessor. Every aspect of this new mini PC has been improved, and despite these changes, this NUC is almost as small as its predecessor.
With its Intel Core Ultra 200HX CPU and up to RTX 5080 (laptop) graphics, ASUS hasn’t just moved to the latest generations of Intel and Nvidia hardware. This new ROG NUC uses higher-end hardware from Intel and Nvidia’s product stacks. Instead of last-gen’s Core Ultra 100H CPUs, the new ROG NUC uses Core Ultra 200HX series CPUs. GPU-wise, the last-gen NUC features up to an RTX 4070 mobile GPU. This time, ASUS offers users up to an RTX 5080 laptop GPU.
Big Performance – Small Form Factor
Alongside this NUC’s CPU and GPU upgrades, ASUS has updated their ROG NUC with fast DDR5-6400 memory modules. Last time, ASUS used DDR5-5600 modules. ASUS has supplemented its 2025 NUC’s CPU and GPU upgrades with faster memory. ASUS has also enhanced the capabilities of their new NUC with WIFI 7 support and PCIe 5.0 storage support.
ASUS claims their new ROG NUC can support up to 96GB of DDR5 memory through two DIMM slots. The device also features two 80 Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, allowing it to support the newest high refresh rate monitors. This includes ASUS’ newly revealed 4K 240Hz and 1440k 500Hz OLED monitors.
New features for Intel’s new ROG NUC 2025
Another new feature that ASUS has added to their new ROG NUC is “ROG BIOS” and overclocking support. This allows users to tune their PCs to enable maximised system performance. Users can even create game-specific profiles/presets.
ASUS’ ROG NUC 2025 will be available following the launch of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series mobile GPUs. These GPUs are due to be launched in March 2025.
