ASUS unveils ROG Xbox Ally Cyberpunk 2077 Edition with AK Studio

ASUS has crafted a custom ROG Xbox Ally X “PROTOCOL-JS” system with AK Studio

ASUS has showcased a custom ROG Xbox Ally X “PROTOCOL-JS” system, a custom Cyberpunk 2077 Edition handheld. This modded system comes from AK Studio, a Taiwanese modding team, who reimagined the handheld through a Cyberpunk lens.

Note that ASUS says this handheld is “one of a kind”, which means that this is not going to be a retail product. At best, this handheld may be given away as a prize in a competition. Alternatively, this custom handheld may become an event system, with the ASUS ROG team bringing it to a variety of global gaming events.

Under the hood, this is a standard ROG Xbox Ally X gaming handheld. It features AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme SOC, 24GB of LPDDR5X memory, and a 1TB SSD. Only the externals of this handheld have been changed.

While this system won’t see a retail release, it is possible that ASUS is using this handheld to gauge the interest in custom/themed ROG Xbox Ally systems. If there is sufficient demand, ASUS could create limited runs of themed ROG Ally handhelds in the future. If demand isn’t there, ASUS can stick to their standard colour schemes.
