Atari are working on a new console?

Atari has announced that they are making a new gaming console, a new product that has been “years in the making”, though sadly there is not much that is known about the console at this time.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Atari’s CEO Fred Chesnais has confirmed that “We’re [Atari] back in the hardware business,” while also stating that the new console is based on PC technology. Will this be a new x86 console?

At this time it is unknown whether this will be a Mini NES Classic Edition-style console rerelease or an entirely new system, though the company is still working on the console’s design.

Below is the first teaser image for this new Atari console, with CEO Fred Chesnais promising to bring the company back to its glory days.

At this time it is not known when Atari’s new console will release, or what exactly this new console will be. Those who want more information on this new console when it becomes available can join the mailing list on Atari’s Ataribox website.
