AYANEO unveils Dual-Screen Ryzen-powered FLIP 1S DS handheld

AYANEO has created a PC gaming handheld that’s perfect for Nintendo DS fans

AYANEO has unveiled a next-generation version of its FLIP DS handheld called the FLIP 1S DS, boasting improvements to practically all areas of the device. This new model boasts a faster CPU/GPU, a high refresh rate primary screen, a larger, higher resolution secondary screen, and an XDNA 2 NPU (neural processing unit).

With its “flip” form factor and dual-screen setup, this PC handheld looks like what a hypothetical “next-gen Nintendo DS” could have looked like. For many, this system may be ideal for 3DS game emulation or playing any modern game that could benefit from a secondary display.

The primary display on the AYANEO FLIP 1S DS is a 7-inch 1080p OLED display. This sceen supports refresh rates up to 144 Hz. This is a huge upgrade over the original’s 1080p 120Hz IPS screen. The device’s secondary screen is a 4.5-inch 1620×1080 (3:2) LCD display. This screen is larger than the 3.5-inch, 960×640 IPS screen used in the last-generation version of this device.

AYANEO FLP 1S DS Specfications

This new system uses AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU. This processor features 12 Zen 5 series CPU cores (4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5c), an XDXA 2 NPU, and a Radeon RX 890M GPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 compute units.

Compared to AYANEO’s last-generation FLIP DS model (which uses a Ryzen 7 7840U or Ryzen 7 8840U), this new model features more CPU cores and a much faster NPU. Additionally, this new model also features a GPU that has more compute units (16 VS 12), higher maximum GPU clock speeds, and a refined graphics architecture (RDNA 3.5 VS RDNA 3). Furthermore, this new model features two USB4 ports for fast charging/connectivity.

Controller-wise, this handheld features hall-sensing joysticks and hall-effect triggers. Additionally, the system has a six-axis gyroscope and an “optical fingermouse”.

For storage, this device supports M.2 2230 SSD storage and MicroSD storage expansion. The system will be available with various LPDDR5X memory configuration options.

Sadly, AYANEO has not unveiled the release date or pricing of their new FLIP DS handheld. This handheld is designed to be used with Windows 11, alongside AYANEO’s AYASpace 3.0 software.
