Commodore is Back with a 5.5" Smartphone

Commodore is Back with a 5.5" Smartphone, with a 13 megapixel camera, a 3000 mAh battery, an 8-core CPU and even a Commodore 64 and Amiga Emulator.

While Commodore has not been a relevant name in technology since the late 20th century it has no doubt been instrumental to the success of PCs, producing the most popular PC ever with the Commodore 64. The Commodore brand will be coming back to us with the Commodore PET, which will be a custom phone based n a custom version of Android 5.0, which even includes emulators for C64 and Amiga games for those who are nostalgic.

The Commodore PEt will be a 1080p smartphone which will have a Mediatek 1.7GHz Octocore CPU, a 13 MP rear facing camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

The mobile phone will be available in two versions, the first version will cost $300 and have 16GB of internal memory and 2GB of RAM and a $365 version which will have 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. Both versions of the phone will also include a 32GB microSD memory stick and the phone will be available in Black, white and Beige, though other colours are being considered.

Right now the Commodore PET mobile phone will be released in the EU in the near future, with a Global release at a later date.

If I remember correctly, it is some other company banking on the nostalgic value/cult status of the Commodore name rather then the actual Commodore company. The original company went bankrupt many years ago (1994) and sold off all its assets.Quote

You're right.

Its an Italian duo.

That’s where things stood until March, when Massimo Canigiani and Carlo Scattolini registered Commodore Business Machines Limited in the UK. The Italian entrepreneurs claim to have acquired rights for the brand and trademark in the mobile industry in 38 countries, including the US.
Its a generic OEM android phone (a high end one) with some nice software by the sounds of things. I do quite like it. dual sim too.Quote

One of the first computers I had was a Commodore 64 along with an Atari 800XL so it's good to see one of my favourite companies come back to life like this Quote
