HP reveals a range of Ryzen/Vega powered notebooks

HP has unofficially revealed some AMD Ryzen Mobile powered laptops, listing them on their warranty support page. This page details a total of 68 upcoming Ryzen/Vega SKUs, though at this time it is unclear whether or not this listing is a mistake or an intentional tease.

These 68 SKUs will be separated over three models, the EliteBook 735 G5, EliteBook 745 G5 and the EliteBook 755 G5, which will ship with a range of different VRAM, CPU and storage options. Unlike Dell’s recently revealed Inspiron 17 5000 series of Raven Ridge powered notebooks, HP will be including SSD-based storage on all of their planned models while also offering AMD’s high-end Ryzen 7 2700U APU, delivering a more compelling notebook lineup.

At this time HP has not revealed the pricing of this new notebook lineup, or when these new models will be released. Hopefully, HP will offer more competitive pricing than Dell’s new AMD-powered notebook designs.

Below is a table of all of the known notebook options, as compiled by Tom’s Hardware, showcasing a range of DRAM, SSD and CPU options for each core model.

AMD has not had a serious product within the Notebook market for quite some time, with older Bulldozer-based CPU design offering less performance and lower levels of performance per watt than Intel’s competing product. In 2018 AMD is expected to gain a lot of market share within the notebook market, though Intel is expected to remain dominant.
