Huawei reveals their Matebook X Pro Notebook

At MWC, the Mobile World Congress, Huawei has unveiled their new Matebook X Pro series of notebooks, which offers users a MacBook-like thin and lite form factor with modern graphics and CPU technologies from Nvidia and Intel respectively.

The key feature of this new notebook design is its blend of performance and portability, with its thickest point being 14.6mm, making this slimmer than Apple’s current MacBook Pro. The notebook utilises an aluminium unibody to maintain rigidity, weighing 1.33kg. With its sandblasted finish the laptop has a remarkably similar aesthetic to Apple’s MacBooks.

The Matebook X Pro will also offer a 3,000×2,000 resolution, with a listed maximum brightness of 450 nits, which also provides 100% sRGB coverage, making this system ideal for photo or video editing on the go.

The next model will upgrade the system to an i7 8550U and a 512GB SSD for €1699, while the highest end model will offer an additional upgrade to 16GB of DDR4 memory for a total of €1899. Other neat features of this design include a hidden webcam within the device’s keyboard, allowing the camera to be hidden from view when not in use. No need to tape over your webcam here! The downside of this is that the camera will be looking at you from a downward angle, giving the camera an “up the nose” view, which is not ideal.

The notebook will also offer a one-touch power button and fingerprint reader, though alternatively, owners can use a traditional password if they prefer. Huawei also states that their keyboard is spill-proof and that a cold boot for this notebook takes around 7.8 seconds on average, which is extremely impressive.
