Lenovo accidentally confirms 2 new Legion Go handhelds

Lenovo reveals two new Legion Go handhelds with new USB-C Dock documentation

As part of some new documentation for their Legion Go USB-C hub, Lenovo has “accidentally” revealed two new Legion Go handhelds: the Lenovo Legion Go 2 and the Lenovo Legion Go Lite. These PC gaming devices are the Lenovo Legion Go 2 and the Lenovo Legion Go Lite.

Recent rumours suggest that Lenovo’s Legion Go Lite will be a smaller, more lightweight version of the original Legion Go. It reportedly uses the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme SOC as the original but features a smaller 7-inch screen and lacks removable controllers. In a sense, this is the Nintendo Switch Lite version of the Legion Go. Lenovo are almost perfectly following the Nintendo Switch playbook with this release. The Legion Go Lite will be designed with lower pricing in mind, acting as an entry-level gaming device.

The Legion Go 2 will be Lenovo’s replacement for the original Legion Go. Currently, it is unknown what SOC will power this new handheld. AMD has confirmed they are creating a Ryzen Z2 Extreme gaming chip for future handhelds. However, Intel also has a potent gaming chip with their new Lunar Lake SOCs. Lenovo could stick with AMD to offer users a direct AMD-to-AMD upgrade or take a risk by moving to Intel.

We expect AMD to reveal their new Z2 Extreme chip at CES 2025, where the company may push a new generation of PC gaming handhelds. Will the Lenovo’s next-generation Legion Go also be there?
