Worlds Greenest Gaming PC?

With increasingly high-powered PC components using more electricity than ever, the newly released Maingear Pulse proudly supports the slogan “The Worlds Greenest Gaming PC” on its webpage

According to Maingear, the Pulse is the “smallest, most energy efficient gaming PC on the market today. Based on NVIDIA ION-graphics, the Pulse is also the world’s first GeForce-upgradeable ION PC. By offering special edition GeForce 9600 GT and 9800 GT graphics that consume 40% less power, a fully loaded Pulse consumes less than 145 watts under load while gaming.”

The Pulse is available with a range of 4 CPUs (2 dual core and 2 quad core Intel Core 2 processors) and utilizes the tiny, passively cooled Zotac GeForce 9300-ITX WiFi motherboard. Zotac also provides the graphics power for the system, with the option of any of their ECO range available (9300GT/9600GT/9800GT), depending on budget.

Other features include a 500GB hard drive, up to 8GB of memory and a variety of connections (including HDMI and wireless). A customized and very small Lian Li PC-Q07 houses the system in style.

With a base price of $799 (which includes a life time labour and support warranty) translating to an approximate price of £650 in the UK if it does get launched, the Pulse appears to be a very stylish system with an excellent price tag – especially if it can indeed live up to its claim of being the “world’s greenest gaming pc”
